Ambassador Chris Lu, U.S. Representative Grace Meng, and the Asian American Federation to Host Panel Celebrating AAPI Community’s Resilience in the Face of Anti-Asian Hate
Ambassador Chris Lu, U.S. Representative for UN Management and Reform, U.S. Representative Grace Meng (D-NY 6th District), and the Asian American Federation will host a panel discussion titled “Rising Stronger Together: Celebrating Asian Resilience” on Monday, May 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT, at the SUNY Global Center Conference Room, 116 E 55th Street, New York, New York 10022.
The panel will include a conversation with Asian American leaders who have shaped the response to anti-Asian violence at the national, city, and community levels. They will share valuable experiences on how they overcame challenges and took the lead on projects including improving safety for the community, fostering community unity, and implementing new legislation, to empower the community.
The event will explore how the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community can continue to collaborate towards safety, education, and solidarity. During AAPI Heritage Month, we hope you will join us as we reflect on what we’ve learned from the challenges we have faced, and how we are forging a way forward.
Other panelists will include Jo-Ann Yoo, Executive Director of the Asian American Federation, Hassan Naveed, Executive Director of the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, Joo Han, Deputy Director of the Asian American Federation, Kalaya’an Mendoza, Director of Mutual Protection of the Nonviolent Peaceforce, and My Trinh Chang, Chief of Staff of Asian Americans for Equality.
Members of the public and press are encouraged to RSVP here.
