Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with President Macky Sall of Senegal

The below is attributable to U.S. Mission to the United Nations Spokesperson Nate Evans:  

U.S. Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today with Senegalese President Macky Sall to discuss the situation in Niger, plans to address insecurity in Haiti, and upcoming elections in Senegal.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield emphasized the United States’ commitment to a diplomatic solution in Niger that preserves constitutional order and ensures the Nigerien people maintain their hard-earned democracy. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and President Sall also discussed ways in which to collaborate on an effective international response to the crisis in Haiti, including the United States’ commitment to support the planned UN multination force in Haiti.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield urged President Sall to continue efforts to ensure an inclusive political space of next year’s elections.
