Ambassador Nikki Haley Meets with Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop

Ambassador Nikki Haley met this afternoon with Julie Bishop, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia. They hailed the strong partnership between the United States and Australia at the UN and around the world. Ambassador Haley thanked Foreign Minister Bishop for her strong statements on North Korea and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to addressing the North Korean threat.

In addition to North Korea, they discussed other matters of mutual concern, including combating terrorism. Ambassador Haley expressed appreciation for Australia’s participation in the counter-ISIS Coalition. Ambassador Haley and Foreign Minister Bishop also emphasized the importance of continued U.S.-Australian cooperation on human rights, fighting anti-Israel bias at the UN, Syria, ISIS, and UN reform.
