Ambassador Nikki Haley Meets with UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng

Ambassador Nikki Haley met today with Adama Dieng, United Nations Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide. Ambassador Haley thanked Special Adviser Dieng for his recent visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo and for his honest assessment of violence in the Kasai region in his briefings to the Security Council.

Ambassador Haley and Special Adviser Dieng discussed the ongoing crises in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in South Sudan and agreed on the importance of regional leadership to address the deteriorating situations in both countries. They agreed on the need for ensuring accountability for human rights violations and abuses and violations of international humanitarian law.
