MEDIA ADVISORY: Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s Participation in a UN Side Event on the Situation of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim Minorities in Xinjiang

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield will deliver remarks at a high-level virtual event on the situation of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim minorities in Xinjiang at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12. This event, co-sponsored by the United States, brings together UN officials, civil society representatives, academics, journalists, and representatives of affected communities in order to exchange information on and raise awareness about the human rights situation in Xinjiang. Participants will discuss how the UN system, Member States, and civil society can support and advocate for the human rights of members of ethnic Turkic communities in Xinjiang. The event will be livestreamed on UN Web TV (http://webtv.un.org/).
