Explanation of Position on a Third Committee Resolution to Strengthen International Cooperation on Organ Donation and Transplantation

Thank you, Chair. We also thank Guatemala and Spain for their facilitation of this resolution.

The United States remains concerned about the rise of a black market in organs supplied by those motivated by desperate situations and those forced, defrauded, or coerced into having their organs removed.

In referencing exacerbating factors to trafficking in persons for organ removal PP21, we note that situations of crises such as conflicts should not be excluded from being deemed an exacerbating factor.
