AS DELIVERED

Democracy, human rights, and the rule of law are all critical elements of U.S. foreign policy. Our views on the topics of this resolution are longstanding and well-known, as are our views about the existence of a “right to development.” Because the United States continues to have reservations about this resolution and a number of controversial and extraneous issues it contains, we are calling a vote and voting against this resolution. We urge other member states to vote against this resolution as well.
