Joint Statement on Climate, Peace, and Security

France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States have joined the Statement of Joint Pledges related to Climate, Peace and Security.

The climate crisis is one of the defining challenges of our time, and its impacts on international peace and security must be at the heart of the agenda of the UN Security Council.

France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are pleased to join Albania, Gabon, Ghana, Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates in pledging to focus on the implications of climate change for international peace and security as members of the Security Council.

These Joint Pledges mark an important milestone in our collective efforts to address climate, peace, and security. These pledges will contribute to a systematic, responsive, pragmatic, comprehensive, and evidence-based approach to climate, peace and security in the Council.
