MEDIA ADVISORY: Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to Travel to Chad and Cabo Verde September 5 – 9
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, will travel to Chad and Cabo Verde from September 5-9.
In Chad, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will travel to the border with Sudan to receive briefings from UN partners, including representatives from UNHCR, on the humanitarian response to populations fleeing the conflict in Sudan. While there, the Ambassador will meet with refugees who have fled mass atrocities in Darfur, as well as humanitarian workers on the ground. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will also meet with Transitional President Mahamat Deby to discuss how the crisis in Sudan is affecting Chad and neighboring countries, and engage with members of civil society.
In Cabo Verde, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will meet with Cabo Verdean government officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues and engage with alumni of the Young African Leaders Initiative program.
