Media Advisory: Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield to Participate in Commission on the Status of Women Side Events
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield will participate in two side events on Wednesday, March 17, during the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
12 p.m. EDT “Terror at Home: Fighting Domestic Violence with Innovation and Technology”
The event, co-hosted by the Missions of Israel and the United States to the UN, the Michal Sela Forum, and UJA-Federation, will focus on how technology and innovation can be harnessed to fight against domestic violence. Israel’s Ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, will deliver opening remarks, followed by remarks from Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield. Other notable speakers include EU Ambassador to the United Nations Olof Skoog and actress Gal Gadot.

3 p.m. EDT “Prioritizing Women and Girls in the COVID-19 Response: A Discussion of U.S. Gender Priorities with the White House Gender Policy Council”
The event, hosted by the U.S. Department of State, is a conversation about the impact of COVID-19 on women and girls’ lives, including increased rates and risk of gender-based violence, detrimental effects on women’s economic participation, and loss of access to sexual and reproductive health services. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will deliver opening remarks.
