Media Note: Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to Travel to Albania and Poland
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, will travel to Albania and Poland November 6 to 9 to reiterate the United States’ unwavering support for these two staunch Allies who are working with us to respond to the crisis caused by Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
In her meetings with government officials, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will thank our Allies for the many critical ways they are helping the people of Ukraine and defending the principles of the United Nations Charter. She will also discuss how we can strengthen our collaboration on other shared priorities, including bolstering energy and food security, strengthening the transatlantic alliance, and holding Russia accountable for atrocities.
In meetings with Albanian leaders, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will convey her gratitude for the extraordinary leadership Albania has shown as a member of the United Nations Security Council on a broad range of issues around the world. As her visit comes during the 100th anniversary of the establishment of U.S.-Albania diplomatic relations, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will also discuss ways to strengthen our partnership in meetings with senior Albanian officials. In Poland, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will meet with officials and humanitarian partners and will observe UN humanitarian operations supporting more than 1.4 million refugees from Ukraine.
