U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Travel to Liberia

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield will lead the Presidential Delegation to the Republic of Liberia from February 14-16. She will represent the United States at Bicentennial Celebrations in Monrovia, Liberia, marking the 200th anniversary of the arrival of free Black men, women, and children from the United States on Providence Island. Their arrival led to the establishment of the City of Monrovia and, in 1847, the Republic of Liberia. During her visit, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will also participate in bilateral meetings with Liberian government officials, opposition leaders, and members of civil society; tour a school where U.S.-donated COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed; visit a project of USAID’s West Africa Trade and Investment Hub; and meet with fellows from the Young African Leaders Initiative program.
