Readout of a Meeting Between Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield and Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Eminence Felipe Solá

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today with Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Felipe Solá. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also expressed the United States’ solidarity in the face of surging COVID cases in Argentina and emphasized President Biden’s commitments to accelerating global vaccine distribution and pandemic response. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also expressed appreciation for Argentina’s work through multilateral systems to advance our shared interests in non-proliferation and human rights. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield thanked Foreign Minister Solá for Argentina’s leadership in combatting climate change by committing to further limit emissions and increase renewable targets, and for Argentina’s offer to host a regional climate summit. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield conveyed the United States’ appreciation of Argentina’s continuing efforts to support regional stability, democracy and human rights in Bolivia, and Venezuela.
