Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Chairman of the Council of the Presidency Sefik Dzaferovic

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today in New York with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Chairman of the Council of the Presidency Sefik Dzaferovic.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic integration. She called for political leaders to resolve differences through participation in established institutions at all levels of government and conveyed the United States’ support for the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt and his efforts to oversee the civilian aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield stressed that elections should be held on time in October, underscoring that regular, predictable elections are fundamental to democracy.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also thanked Presidency Chairman Dzaferovic for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s support for Ukraine and the UN Charter in the face of Russian aggression.
