Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Cabo Verde Foreign Minister Figueiredo
The below is attributable to U.S. Mission to the United Nations Spokesperson Nate Evans:
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Cabo Verdean Minister of Foreign Affairs Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares. They discussed global issues of shared concern, including respective priorities for the upcoming UN General Assembly, improving partnership through the Atlantic Cooperation Initiative. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also commends Cabo Verde for its clear and consistent position of opposing Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield reaffirmed shared values regarding collective commitments and obligations outlined in the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Ambassador also congratulated Cabo Verde on its progress toward implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
