Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today in New York with Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield commended the Republic of the Congo’s leadership as Chair of the African Union High-Level Committee in 2021, and shared their mutual concern for the deteriorating situation in Libya and its effects on the region. The two officials also discussed food security and financial crises in many African countries, including the Congo, as a result of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
