Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today in Bissau with President Umaro Sissoco Embalo to discuss key bilateral and regional issues, including threats to stability across the region and the need for a swift democratic transition in Niger. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed appreciation for Guinea-Bissau’s leadership as Chair of ECOWAS from 2022-2023. The Ambassador and the President also explored opportunities for increased bilateral cooperation between Guinea-Bissau and the United States as well as issues related to Guinea-Bissau’s continued democratic development and stability.
