Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Human Rights Watch

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Human Rights Watch Executive Director Tirana Hassan. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield underscored her concern about the dire crisis in Sudan and thanked Human Rights Watch for their reporting on the brutal killings, rapes, and looting in West Darfur. The Ambassador also noted the August Human Rights Watch report on Haiti and expressed her deep concern for the grave human rights situation, especially the increase in killings, kidnappings, and use of sexual violence as a weapon.
