Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato Katsunobu

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato Katsunobu today in Tokyo. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato reaffirmed that the U.S.-Japan Alliance is the cornerstone of peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield thanked Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato for hosting First Lady Dr. Jill Biden during the Opening Ceremony and congratulated Japan on hosting a safe and secure Tokyo Olympic Games. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato also discussed the importance of multilateral cooperation to raise global ambition to tackle COVID-19 and the climate crisis, as well as the need to work together to combat efforts to undermine the free and open rules-based international order.
