Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Uto Takashi

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Uto Takashi in Tokyo. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield congratulated State Minister Uto for Japan’s efforts to host the Olympic Games amid the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and State Minister Uto reaffirmed the shared commitment of both governments to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with allies and partners to address pressing global challenges and advance a free and open Indo-Pacific, as well as to uphold and strengthen the rules-based international order. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and State Minister Uto also discussed the importance of diplomacy rooted in our shared values of democracy and human rights.
