Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Jordan’s Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield underscored the importance of the U.S.-Jordan strategic partnership and expressed her appreciation for Jordan’s efforts in hosting more than 750,000 refugees from the conflict in Syria. The two leaders discussed Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s visit to Jerusalem and Ramallah and the Jordanian-Israeli relationship. She emphasized that preserving cross-border aid to Syria is crucial to saving lives, and discussed U.S. efforts to increase humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield assured Prime Minister Khasawneh that the U.S. will continue to provide critical support to help Jordan address its domestic and external challenges.
