Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar in Reykjavik, Iceland, on the margins of the Council of Europe Summit. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield thanked Slovenia for its outspoken support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and expressed our desire to continue working with Slovenia on holding Russia to account for its aggression against Ukraine. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and President Musar discussed Slovenia’s candidacy to the UN Security Council for 2024-2025, and the Ambassador repeated the United States’ belief that Slovenia is a very well-qualified candidate that, if elected, would be a credible voice in contributing to the maintenance of international peace and security.
