AS DELIVERED

Hi, good afternoon. Just as I was sitting in the seat in a state of shock, I am continuing to stand here in a state of shock. And as many of you know, when I started the presidency in the month of December, I talked about credibility in the Council. And today, we took a huge step backwards in credibility where it really matters.

And I am deeply and profoundly disappointed at the outcome of today’s meeting. But what I can tell you, and I can promise you, is that we will continue – the Council will continue – to work every day throughout the holidays until [January 10] to come to a resolution to help the people in need in Syria. Furthermore, there is not an administration stronger than the Trump Administration that will always help the people in Syria until help is no longer needed.

Thank you so much and have a Merry Christmas.
