Explanation of Vote by Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield Following the Adoption of a UN Security Council Resolution on the UNIFIL Mandate

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield
U.S. Representative to the United Nations

AS DELIVERED

Before adjourning the meeting, as this is the last scheduled meeting of the Council for the month of August, I would like to express the sincere appreciation of the Delegation of the United States to the members of the Council and to the Secretariat of the Council for all the support they have given us.

Indeed, it has been a busy month, and one in which we rallied to consensus on several important issues within our purview.

We could not have done any of this alone and without the hard work, support, and positive contribution of every delegation and the representatives of the Secretariat, including the Conference Services Officers, the interpreters who do such an amazing job, verbatim reporters, and the security staff.

As we end our presidency, I know I speak on behalf of the Council in wishing the delegation of Albania good luck in the month of September.
