AS DELIVERED
As a result of the previous vote, the United States hereby disassociates itself from all language across United Nations General Assembly 73rd Session Second Committee resolutions that refers to “leave no country behind.” The 2030 Agenda states “no one” will be left behind. We believe this alteration to the original 2030 Agenda language erodes the people-centered focus of the Agenda and distracts from the many multi-faceted and multi-stakeholder efforts to advance sustainable development. We also believe this is an effort to shift the discussion towards a narrower set of vested country interests and away from those that sustainable development impacts the most, the people.
