Statement by Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield on Today’s Presidential Delegation to Haiti
Members of the Presidential Delegation to the funeral of President Moïse have arrived safely back in the United States. Before departing, our bipartisan delegation – including Chairman Meeks and Representative Fortenberry – met with Prime Minister Henry, Foreign Minister Joseph, SRSG La Lime and other officials, and underscored the commitment of the United States to support an inclusive and peaceful dialogue in Haiti. Special Envoy Daniel Foote and U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Michele Sison will continue to engage with Haiti’s political and civil society leaders.
The people of Haiti deserve peace, security, and a better future. Now is the time for the international community to come together to support the Haitian people in a time of great suffering.
