AS DELIVERED

Thank you, Chairperson.

The United States thanks Germany for introducing this resolution that emphasizes the important role that such national institutions play and will continue to play in promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms. The United States is proud to co-sponsor this resolution.

We also take this opportunity to state our view that the Paris Principles are not legally binding and do not necessarily reflect international law.

We also refer to our general statement made on November 7.

Thank you, Chairperson.
