Thank you, Chairperson.

The United States thanks Greece, Argentina, Austria, Costa Rica, France, and Tunisia for introducing a strong resolution that emphasizes the importance of this issue, and the need to combat impunity. We share the commitment to investigate, and where appropriate, prosecute crimes committed against journalists and media workers. The United States is proud to co-sponsor this resolution.

With respect to OP14, we note that no forms of censorship are acceptable, as censorship is, by definition, an undue restriction on freedom of expression. We further note that we understand references to the right to privacy to refer to protections set forth in Article 17 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

We also refer to our global general statement made on November 7.
