U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Travel to Japan and Thailand
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield will lead the Presidential Delegation to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan from August 6-9, to represent the United States at the Closing Ceremony. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will attend final sporting events to support Team USA, and will engage with U.S. athletes, members of the Refugee Olympic Team, and other athletes from around the world. During her visit to Tokyo, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will also participate in bilateral meetings with Japanese government officials.
From August 9-12, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, where she will reaffirm and build upon the vitally important alliance between the U.S. and Thailand. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will meet with Thai officials to discuss a number of areas of shared interest, including the distribution of over 1.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine recently donated by the United States to combat the COVID pandemic, the ongoing crisis in neighboring Burma and humanitarian needs in the region, our strong partnership with ASEAN, climate change, and other topics. She will also meet with international organization and NGO representatives in the country.
